32 years ago, I had this same conversation with at least a dozen people in government service. Ironically, they all dreamed about leaving to work for Microsoft, IBM or Lockheed, etc. Civilization teaches extraction at all levels and in any form. Acceptance of competitive acquiescence is the engine of consumptionist misery. We are not evolved to be useless and destructive to our world. It's just business.
