Because it is anthropocentric. Humanity's generational dysfunction continues because the real, physical world keeps saying, "It's NOT about YOU!", and humans keep trying to hear what the Earth is saying through the headphones we put on to block out the hurricanes.

Humans keep looking for useless meaning to their fanatically competitive artificial wants when there is cooperative, useful work to be done for the place they are standing on and the other people and children depending on all of those letter generations and their 3-letter agencies to just stop consuming and start contributing.

No matter what generation you are in, the only planet we have is asking, "What have you done for me lately?"
