Carbon isn’t the real problem (climate change is just a symptom): consumptionism is.

Every sustainable version of humanity surviving long term has to involve a feedback mechanism so that consumers know the real costs of their choices. That means not just carbon taxes, but sales taxes that reflect all externalised costs. In capitalism, all political decisions are made at the checkout or the house closing or car dealer. One dollar = one vote. How those votes are counted, distributed and used determines our species’ future in any modern world, whether socialist or capitalist or survivalist.

Ms Warren, please work to get rid of the income tax code. It’s killing the planet one dollar at a time.
