Climate change is everyone’s fault. People will destroy the world because it’s cheaper to do so than to save it. Megacorporations count your votes for their policies (and lobbyists) at the cash register. People are conditioned to buy rather than make: to dispose rather than repair, and to travel rather than live. All of these things are kept cheap because taxes are on income, rather than consumption.

If you want Change, keep it in your pocket. If you want the government to be the change, then tell them to make all taxes sales taxes. Every purchase is a decision and a vote, yet those votes are disinformed with cheap goods and externalized costs.

Capitalism isn’t broken: it’s just missing negative feedback and the leadership to provide that feedback.

No other system is going to do any better without some form of feedback directly to consumers.
