Definitely feeling this story most years. I'm not alone, and it's not always, just that feeling of missing care or authentic interaction that we sometimes get from Mom, but rarely ever is it unconditional anywhere else.

Competition comes to mind again, and how a competitive society makes everyone guarded and stingy with emotion, lest it be used against us.
