Evil: an action taken based on an unquestioned belief.

Human: an ape that builds a model of the universe inside its brain, and upon physical maturity, moves a model of its self inside that model, avoiding reality at all costs.

Fortune is just one of the factors in how we build our models. We get the wolf we feed, and apparently, his name is Blind Belief. We didn’t invent science to combat religion; but to combat evil. That doesn’t mean scientists can’t do evil as well, just that there’s a system to reduce it rather than to propagate it. That’s what Marketing is for.
