Education is about cooperation, not competition. A society based on competition yields fewer and fewer winners and more and more losers (Chicago).

The rich who want private schools only can get away with it now because they can put robots in the factories. When they needed masses of skilled laborers, they were all about the public funding of education. Unions are only as good as the system they sign a contract with. When the first contract they sign is to TIAA/CREF, then all bets are off and students don't stand a chance.
