From my experience, you did the right thing. Notwithstanding the time and costs, the crown solution can lead to problems when on top of a root canal. Dentistry is not nearly as regulated or advanced as the ADA pretends it is. One word: electrogalvanism.

The ADA is a dependent of the sugar industry, and has never been held to account for its cavalier use of mercury and other toxic metals, nor its failure to aggresively condemn the cheap food/poverty diet that harms so many children for life.
