God is the marketing department for town meetings. What people do at those meetings determines the popularity of God. Today's "spirituality" usually involves people buying a product that never has to be delivered in their lifetime.

The problem is not the lack of spirituality: it's the lack of town meetings to determine and plan for useful work that benefits a place.

Everything is instead determined by the Invisible Hand Job: Big Money's myth of Meritocracy that uses Competition as an excuse to bully and beat the masses into a mental state of numbness while the few who were first up the ladders kick them out from their castles.

The masses turn to prayer, gambling, drinking and fucking as replacements for feeling useful to each other and their places.

It is a failure of philosophers to develop a replacement for the Fear of God to get people to show up once a week in service to something other than money.
