Great job, Jessica. I agree with all of it. Here’s my take on 30 years of talking to individuals and groups about peak oil and consumerism:

We don’t have to be screwed.

We just are because humans are not as intelligent as we crack ourselves up to be.

To quote Terry Pratchett’s Lord Vetinari, “Cunning will substitute for intelligence to a point; then you die.”

Humans are cunning.
