Habits. Culture. Education. Philosophy. In that order.
To quote Dave Malakar (sp?) “People do shit. They have reasons for doing shit; in that order.”
Children learn to love work if they are taught to love work by parents who love work and they instinctively want to be useful and generous. Modern schools beat that out of them real fast with tests and social filtering.
Technology is only as useful as the people need it to be. After that, it’s just money that’s useful to people with more money.
There is no feedback at the decision point (cash registers, home purchase) that tells people how much their choice costs them in the future (war, environment, social instabilities over resources, climate change, etc). The Invisible Hand Job has already killed us. Humanity just doesn’t have the grace to fall over.
