HaHaHa (cynical laughter). Thanks again, Indi. I was going to say I'm surprised at the hate you got with this, but after reading down the list, I realized an amazing correlation that is totally unscientific, but here goes: The people who hate this article are the same people who were surprised that Trump was elected in the first place.

The Bubble People. Credentialed Professional Management Virtuists who think that America is a democracy and all of those gallons of gasoline (or charging stations) they buy aren't votes for Corporate sycophants. They place one vote in 4 years (sometimes even 2 if they are privileged enough to have time to vote in mid-terms) while voting thousands of times for their portfolio of competitive moral turpitude and the dominant species (cars: gas or electric, never an efficient diesel).

Few have been subjected to the brainwash of military life or the pigwash of farming at the mercy of a meat processor monopoly in a part of the country where there is no other form of income.

The U.S.A. will get the politicians it votes for at the checkouts. It always does. 30 trillion dollarized votes vs. 30 million suggestion boxes.

Tail vs. dog in a treat factory.

Democrats will start winning when they show up and do useful work in the places that really need them.

Keep in mind, this is from 2005:

"But the educated American left’s refusal to be its laboring brother’s keeper, its lack of militancy in general, is at the root of the current inter-class wars that the elites on both sides have dubbed "culture wars," in an effort to keep the debate on their own mutually elitist terms and to avoid dealing with working people’s needs. It is easier to deal with "cultural matters" than to get off our asses and fix things or cough up the fortunes it will take just to have a voice in media at all, now that it is owned by the pigs we let out of the pen when we fell asleep after the 1970s.

The other way to escape our progressive responsibility is to scorn the supposed stupidity of the millions of fellow Americans who voted for President Sparky. They are the wrong targets. We in the United States are easily the most brainwashed population on earth, when it comes to being exposed to an extremely sophisticated flood of calculated misinformation. Without changing that, we can never win." RIP, Joe Bageant
