Humans evolved to not know the difference between bullies and leaders. The more they favored bullies, the more their tribe propagated (bullies).
America itself has over 200 years' worth of evidence that being an asshole is highly profitable.
Meanwhile, the mean Mean believes that rich people deserve to be mean (rich).
You are not alone in hating rich people, but think about this: the rich get richer and the poor get poorer because the poor work for them and buy their stuff.
If the poor worked for each other and ignored the assholes, we would have fewer assholes in charge. Unfortunately, we have myriad systems that teach children from an early age that all of our problems come from a lack of faith in authority, and the Ultimate Aristocrat (who supposedly loves all) wants them to fight each other for trophies, jobs, territory and sexual partners (and the marketers of all things authoritative get a tax deduction for brainwashing children). Fanatical, competitive assholery: Make Americans Grovel Again.
"In a society based on competition, you inevitably get fewer and fewer winners and more and more losers." -Wendell Berry
If you want Change, keep it in your pocket. Don't believe those people who say they are going to "tax the rich"; they just want to be the bullies taking someone's money (the most corrupting mechanism of ‘democracy’ is the income tax code). If we want to stop having rich people, we have to do things ourselves and stop paying rich people to live our lives for us. We have to stop letting them get rich in the first place, and that means choosing a better way at the purchase point, not in government or in rhetoric or by criticizing the 100 white guys who own all of yesterday's children.
The rich are scared right now (except Bezos) because people are sitting at home trying to figure out how to never return to their jobs (if they are lucky enough to work from home).
Speaking truth to power is a waste of time. They know exactly what they are doing.
Tell poor people to do shit for themselves and stop being dicks with their money. There is no middle class. There are just those who have to work to eat and those who never will. As long as we believe there are ‘classes’ to level-up in, we will stay intoxicated on “always low prices” and easy credit terms.
Two birds in one: sales tax-based UBI. Start here and negotiate the rate and the prebate.
Sales taxes are less regressive than bureaucrats owned by tax dodgers.
Whatever you do, don’t read “America’s 60 Families” by Ferdinand Lundberg. You’ll totally lose your shit ;)
