I like to start by defining what it means to be a human. Human: a primate that builds a model of the universe inside its brain and upon physical maturity, moves a model of its self inside that model, avoiding reality at all costs. Since civilization is itself a system of isolation from the reality of the natural world, seeking 'enlightenment' inside one's own model of a model universe is the Total Perspective Vortex of selfi-serving anthropocentric dysfunction.
The opposite of consumption is generosity. Existence has a cost, and the enlightenment game is another distraction from the stress of sanctioned uselessness to our physical place (Earth).
