I think a lot of trouble comes from people thinking that socialism is the opposite of capitalism. They're unrelated. The opposite of capitalism is sales tax. With all of the information available, the most scarce is actual useful value of anything. Prices are fickle: manipulated by con artists, tax dodging schemes, and inflated debts. I think we can start with UBI and health, as well as all government paid from sales tax (VAT), so everyone gets paid their full value, everyone knows the actual cost of buying instead of making, and (very important) the act of paying taxes becomes anonymous but unavoidable. The elimination of corruption is the top priority for a democracy to exist, as well as proof that each person is worthy of basic sustenance, health and education.
