I think of it this way:
“0” is a symbol that represents the absence of something; a placeholder on the number line, but not actually the same as a number. It’s not an actual quantity. You can’t divide by 0 because there’s nothing there to divide with. Any number or quantity approaching 0 is still a quantity, so that’s ok. Less and less of a quantity is not the same as more and more zero.
