I think the point is not necessarily simplification (frugality again), but "reversal of fortune". In other words, reversing everything extractive and make it generous to the future of the planet's systems. Paying UBI is about paying people to care for a place. All of the knowledge and technology management and cashflow that goes toward extraction of resources can be applied scientifically to putting as many people as possible with least individual time toward guiding and supporting natural resources. The 'value-added' wealth of human systems just gets pushed toward the land under the pyramid schemes instead of toward the imaginary gods at the top and their money-skimming servants. We have to stop using competitive selfish human interests to determine merit through our destructive capability (bullying) and start seeing natural stability and resources as value only when we are improving them(leadership). Civilization isn't wrong because it's big; it's wrong because it's backward.
