I used to work in an anechoic chamber (steel box). I will entertain the Windows 98 version: local consciousness with poorly implemented updates. If my consciousness was nonlocal, it would have shut off in the box. Sure, “subspace, quantum, buzzword buzzword” but living tissue is quite happy engaging within the electromagnetic spectrum, so I find nonlocal consciousness unlikely by experience. But…maybe that’s just Zoroaster playing with my peculiar insanity. ☺
