Is it, though?

The more 'they' can piss people off, the more they sell advertising to other powerful people and crappy products to the proles.

The highest profit market items are Diet Coke, beer, sugar, bloated EV stocks, and trucks, trucks, trucks full of guns, prescription dope, and hypersexualized women's clothing (whatever macho concussed white men and the women who want to impress them are buying). Go sportsball.

Protest signs are cheap, low volume commodity items.

Go figure.

It's all in the marketing, and it's ALL marketing.

What powerful people (usually WM, but they are enabled by everyone else at the cash registers) are getting away with is 'everyone else's money' because poor people keep working for them, borrowing their money, and buying their stuff at "always low prices" while the resources under their feet are extracted from our grandchildren.

UBI based on sales tax. Just think about it.

"Intersection of politics and pop culture", indeed.
