The "future" scenario you propose is where we already are, except the algorithms are enhancing the psychopathy, not competing with it. Civilization caused humans to not know the difference between leaders and bullies (psychopaths), and competition rewards aggression and moral turpitude; to the present state where tax law requires labor to place bets on it.
