It's not just corporate disclosure. We have allowed the advertisers turn our mindset away from general common honesty over many decades. There is no such thing as "false advertising" anymore. It's all fake: the advertising, the news products, the political rhetoric, the YouTube videos of listicles about "10 things you MUST do TODAY!" and the products themselves (planned obsolescence).
Telling the truth has become, to quote Perry Mason, "Incompetent, irrelevant and immaterial."
