My condolences. It is funny, though, that the reason I won't buy an Apple product is the lack of quality and the lack of open hardware they had in the beginning. I worked in a gov't shop where we repaired the first gen Macs and MacIIs. Apple did the slimy marketing scheme of giving away their monochrome crappy computers to college students, who went into gov't service and became the 1st gen with desktop computers, so they demanded Apple products on their desks (and invested in Apple stock). Overheating, parts shortages, etc etc.. I was an Amiga guy. Microsoft sucked and Apple sucked, but Amiga wasn't supported because "What do you need color on a work computer for? What is this 'multitasking' of which you speak? and most of all, "Serious computers don't play games!" etc etc.

In 1988, I would bring my Amiga to work to transfer files from the Mac weenies to the IBM weenies because it could read both formats (the IBM was a whole PC on a card inside the Amiga).

AmigaOS was Unix based. The wheel comes around to now, where people run Linux on PCs and MacOS is basically linux at its core (so I'm told). Too bad everyone is trapped in the x86 cave, though. Remember when Intel couldn't do math?

;)
