My favorite is to ask them, "What are people FOR?"

I'm pretty sure that when Nature curated the development of a brain that could be conscious of its own future, it wasn't to carve giant wastelands in the Earth and then bury everything in landfills just so little pieces of paper could take up residence on private islands that will be under water sooner or later.

"A corporation is a pile of money to which a group of men swear moral allegiance." -Wendell Berry

Everyone keeps arguing about what to do with the money that we don't have (debt) based on a future that can't exist on 5 planets worth of oil and phosphates to grow increasing amounts of maize to feed ethanol to cars.

Most of the American economy is based on pyramid building like the Egyptians: except we take the 4000 lb blocks of steel home every night and start another pyramid the next day in perpetuity.

We've spent the last 150 years replacing people on the land with petroleum-powered industries, and then everyone complains that they don't have enough jobs or food or pay.

The only apparent "progress" we've made is in the level of uselessness of our species to our places.
