Second, we have to realize that monogamy, like civil rights, is built on a relationship, not granted by wish. We can't maintain either without solid grounding in the realities of our living animal desires and how much work is needed. Too many people expect too much of life to just happen, or other people to be who we hope, or fairness to come from competition (invisible hand).

Men have been in charge of raising children to believe men are in charge. Civilization (hierarchy) has always favored bullies(force and selfish aggression) because it gets results faster than cooperation and generosity. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and envy votes for power, hoping to get some.
