Natural law will decide where perceptions end up. Everyone can be an economist when the only goal is growth (worse: the perception of growth). When inflation is subtracted from prices that matter, then the pyramid scheme called "free market growth" shows itself as a religion based on a suicidal death cult. The immediate perceptions don't matter to Nature when our species believes it can pretend we are on a separate team in the game of life. People don't see the true costs at the decision point/perception point, so of course their sense of inflation is distorted. By association, then, economists' sense of supply vs demand is also distorted.
