Not trying to quantify other commented technical points, I think your overall assertion is still important: at what point does the perception of perpetual growth seriously wane? How will that actually manifest? Will lame leaders and inflationites keep the illusion going on inertia of consumer demand and status quo bias, or take the hit and back off, or perform some magic trick of putting all of the labor replaced by petroleum back on lands now consolidated under manure-handling economy of scale? Tomorrow marks the reinstatement of the last president who will be elected under a substantial fog of global warming denial. The next will probably be under a state of emergency of some kind or another.
