On housing: you used to be able to order a house from Sears and put it up yourself. That defined a lot of the American Dream.

On cars and trucks: it used to be cheaper to get a truck than a car in many situations. That was when trucks were for work.

Dealers and parts houses hate electric cars. No secondary profits.

On Rich vs poor:

People with very little will usually make things work; people with too much usually make things not work. America's economics has often been about making things not work for poor people.
