One dollar=one vote. In order to change the dynamics, we have to have some minimum level of value in the hands of the majority. Right now, that's a negative number (personal debt, as well as national debt) the actual votes (money, land or resources that aren't beholden to debtors) right now are all in the hands of corporations or the very very wealthy, who buy and sell the lawyers and pickle vendors (senators and congressmen) with pocket change.
The opposite of this unfettered capitalism is not socialism per se: it's sales tax-enabled UBI and health (not insurance; actual healthy people).
The corruption of modern society is embedded in things like means testing (progressivism), free markets and blind belief in competition and coercion. Everything that individuates people also favors bullies and criminals who devalue cooperation except when it favors them.
