Our system rewards bullying. The goal of conservatives is to maintain this system. They aren't threatened by society protecting victims: they are terrified of losing the privilege to be bullies. We keep letting our focus deviate from the actual threat, and as long as everyone stays reactive instead of proactive, the bullies win and innocent people are in danger. Nex just wanted to live a life. The bullies want to own everyone's lives in the school. All of the way back to Columbine, the media have avoided blaming or lighting the bullying paradigm because our entire economic machine is built on it. Colonialism is bullying. Markets favor bullies. Competition favors bullies.

Instead of attacking bullies, we give the victims a memorial and bullies will stand on it to sell tickets.
