People have been conditioned to buying a life instead of living one as part of the world itself. Uselessness for pay and for sale. I don't think humanity is ready to face up to how much our existence has become bullshit with no connection to the physical reality of resources except through a cash register.

Most of what people are buying doesn't need to be made in the first place.

All the comforts of home: a home full of useless people buying useless crap for useless reasons, and the planet crying out for help from a species that abandoned its natural environment because "it was too haaaaaarrrrrd".

We can re-evaluate the logistics of civilization over and over and over, but the bottom line is that civilization is unsupportable as a methodology until we figure out the purpose of people to their places.
