In order to end the wars and move toward health, the empire will necessarily have to die. Not the United States as a nation, but the globe-spanning oligarchic power structure whose power, wealth and military might have been loosely centralized around Washington DC.
People need to know the cost of empire at the decision point where they support it: the checkouts.
Again, the answer to almost any contemporary question comes down to this:
"UBI based on sales tax". Ironically, support for the scaffolding is Republican (www.fairtax.org).
UBI without sales tax would be inflationary. Sales tax without UBI is regressive.
Are we killing people in Yemen because we want to kill people in Yemen, or because consumers are oblivious to the way they support "always low prices" for oil and goods and wars?
Not everyone seeks facts and information, but everyone has to buy stuff in a capitalist system. The opposite of capitalism is not socialism: it's sales tax. The opposite of bullying is socialism. The socialism won't work as long as it's cheaper to be a bully.
