Sure, sure...yup. But you have to stop and see what stage of the Kobyashi Maru you are in. Is it just a replay of civilization that you can rig the game like Kirk on the next go-round, or are you trying to learn what your psychological ability is while dying (Spock wrote the scenario), or are we in the actual Kobyashi Maru itself and the Klingon corporations will kill us no matter what we do?

Do we have the wherewithal to find pockets of resistance (Baijor vs the Cardassians) and build an effective countering force? Are there any allies we can call on? Our options seem to be limited because we allowed the Cardassians to come in under the pretense of Progress and Growth and Prosperity (and don't forget "full employment" and 'no child left with a dime').

Then, there's the question, "What, exactly, are people good for?" If we're going to go down fighting, what's the end game? A New Consumptionism Republic where everyone gets free magic beans to buy their way to happiness without getting dirty on a farm? Are we going to Fight for the Right to have robot slaves driving our tractors and trucks while so-callled 'useful' humans live like the Brady Bunch or Bachelorette?

I'll pick a patch of dirt and fight for its right to grow living things, but the Burbclave White Columns stormtroopers will eventually come and salt the earth with depleted uranium and rusty tanks, so that won't last, either.

The IPCC is now trying to blow smoke up everyone's exhaust ports about how we can still "prevent the worst from happening", but the actual worst thing humans could do has already happened: We invented "limited liability", blind competition, and built cities where the Invisible Hand Job gets everyone to go to sleep after a long day of bullshitting God/Money/Children about how 'worthy' they are.

I'm as happy as I've ever been in life right now. All of the idiots I've ever known are going to die off, and I get to watch the birds, raccoons and pigs take over.

Get your guillotine before the rush. There won't be any discounts later.

Sorry, that went darker than I meant it to. The point being "situational awareness." Are we the last pocket of resistance, or has another faction already won/lost the war while we have been fighting on a Pacific Island for 30 years?
