Thanks for sharing. One thing I did recently was to install valves to shut off water to the upstairs and drain the pipes so if I choose, I can stop heating the upper floor. More insulation soon, and a light colored metal roof. This house was definitely built for cheap energy. I installed tubing in an addition basement slab that will eventually store heat from solar panels yet to design. With enough insulation, maybe in conjunction with the heat pump running on solar and battery will be enough to keep the pipes from freezing... during short outages. Depending on the natural gas distribution is starting to make me nervous.
