Thanks for sharing your story, Ruth. I think the town in Wisconsin that should be noted is Oostburg, not Hollandtown. That’s where the other end of the wormhole from Pella, IA sits. Your description of the culture answers a lot of the underlying questions my family has had over the years of being near the two places. It also describes the undertone of segregation that pervades so much of the Midwest but manages to be absent in news media. You might find interesting tangents in this article:
