That we see money as valuable (literally), is a significant source of the problem. Money has no value. It represents value. The value of energy is its ability to do real work. We are failing to apply energy to useful work, and money is being generated by useless work. Application of energy for useful value is really the test of humanity's useful value (intention) to its own future places. Cheap food from cheap energy has created an excess of uselessly cheap lives. Making lives valuable and useful to their own place and future is more about useful human action than the external energy input.
