The aspect I find most neglected is related to our blind belief in Competition. To put it succinctly, there is no survivable form of an individual human animal, so all concepts of determinism need to be addressed as groups. The "free will influence factor" is one of many that are net useful to future humans' survival/persistence. Individuation as we have become accustomed to it is usually a trick of markets and imposed identity for the profit of "civilized" devices for anti-natural (domesticated) activities. In other words, if we weren't domesticated to be "consumers" competing with other consumers, our brains would actually function more cooperatively, and our true will would be encouraged as part of a living organism (bees seeking honey), rather than stressed identities fighting the group for scraps of paper. Brains in chains are a poor baseline to judge.
