The choices people make that affect climate most are their purchases. Yet, there is always the mindset of "Sales tax is regressive!"

The only effective solution in a market society is to show real costs at the point of purchase.

Sales tax is less regressive than a dead planet.

If the cost of climate change is left to trickle down through insurance rates and income taxes we'll never see(the companies go bankrupt before passing on all the costs, and 'conservatives' pretend we don't need the government to subsidize their schemes), then the masses won't do anything differently than they are now.

The inertia of consumers justifies attacking science because they know science will tell them they are doing something wrong. Religion attacks science for saying something because "Morality is our job!", and the only thing worse than doing a man's job for them is to make him do it. (Note the appropriate gender bias in this statement).
