The domesticated ape human is extremely adaptable. We have evolved to not know the difference between leaders and bullies. We can adapt to cooperative systems, but like stubborn toddlers, we have to want it. Humans will fight to the death for the sake of fighting to the death, and the planet is in the process of killing us for it.
In all of the wars and progress between, humans neglected the ground under our feet. Politicians all want to play Monopoly but they always start by burning the playing board (farms, forests, roads). Earth will finish this game for us by burning down the house of Man.
