The fundamental problem we face (whether it manifests as war, climate change, economic disparity or plutocratic exploitation) is competitive overconsumption. In order for humans to be contributors to a place rather than consumers, we need to pay and support them to do so. At the same time, we need to discourage overconsumption at decision points. All of the "cons" of UBI are actually cons of unfettered consumerism that capitalists have exploited for unnecessary growth and conflicts over power and resources. UBI on its own is the second half of the solution we need. The first half is to eliminate the complex corruption of income tax code and put all of civilization's overhead costs into VAT/sales tax. UBI should include good health (not sick care for profit).
Most of the 'stakeholder' power lies in the income tax codes. By "stake holders", I mean the ones holding a stake over every child's heart for money. We are facing collapse in almost every system today because we have been teaching and paying people to destroy places.
