The opposite of capitalism (worship of capital) is not socialism: it’s sales taxes. People need to feel the cost of buying into this system at the point they make their decisions: the cash register. So, I support the FairTax.org plan, but much higher, and combined with a universal basic income-level prebate. The reason people allow money over everything is that money (and selling one’s time for it is cheaper than ‘everything’. Everything real is being neglected in favor of cheap money, cheap food, and cheap people.
