The underlying problem is that most of human civilization has become extractive. When combined with colonialism and competition, the inevitable has emerged: a system of bullying that taught humans to not know the difference between living and hurting. God is a bully. Corporations demand bullies represent their pile of money to bullying shareholders for their votes. Every aspect of children's lives is competitive and contentious. The question of man vs bear comes up because men are conditioned to take (advantage) of anything weaker, and society says women are weak, so they're first on every list for takers. Men are rewarded for such behaviors (being tough/mean, being aggressive, getting rich by any means).

No, 'not all' men, but even if we're talking about any men believing they have the 'right' to be a bully, then there's something wrong with the systems that teach that, and it goes so far back that most of humanity has forgotten what sensible, community life really means, nor how much work it takes to have common decency as a habit. Decent communities have been attacked and exploited to death for God, money and ego.
