There is a lot of surprising recent research in the botanical fields about the symbiotic relations of nutrient exchanges between soil and plants via bacterial transport and interchange. Either plants are a lot smarter than us animals (a genetic argument can support it), or we are blind to something because it's just complicated beyond what we are willing to accept (in law, medical economics, revulsion bias and textbooks).
