There's a lot of bubbles. Most of them are relative to the luxury of the petroleum economy that allows everyone to have their own competing bubbles as the entire planet goes to hell in a plastic bag. Asking the first question left out of most debates "What are people for?" resets the perspective. For any species to adapt to change, it first has to have some kind of diversity. Humans have built artificial environments (bubbles of stability) where the mean Mean is competing for 'normalcy' as well as taking profits from instabilities.
Competition is revered as the only true God, but it's killing everyone.
The media blows any bubble up for advertising revenue (conflict sells, sex sells: conflict about sex and political identity? WOOHOO!!) until it bursts.
Watch out for the new season's ratings on climate change, Russia or Taiwan.
