There's a lot of highway construction going on in the Midwest. Most of it involves a lot of landscapes planted with grass, often with rye crops to hold the soil until grass can be established. Acres and acres of land full of food that won't be utilized except as decoration. As technocrats push automated cars and automated farm equipment to save labor, there is no discussion of utilizing median strips and interchange acres for food.
