There's no basis for the belief that there is something good about the civilization we have, let alone belief that it needs to grow perpetually. It's mostly just jobs to buy stuff humans don't need and all of the wasteful accoutrements to pretend it's all so important. Nature wants to know what we are going to do to even start earning our planetary keep and stop whining about money and each other's clothing choices(religion, nationalism). Art's arguments assume there's some need to keep the unquestionable lifestyles and yours assumes the same: with solar panels on top.

Consumerism is The Economy of Stupid, guided by an Invisible Hand Job and maintained by an unhealthy practice of providing private insurance, education and transportation to either a sickly death or a war: all in the name of profits.
