This is one of your best articles, I think. The only thing I can add is that, unlike a computer, the folders in a biological brain each have connections to the other folders to some degree. These redundancies and associations are helpful for information recall, but make changes difficult. The cleanup function of dreams allows the brain to prune or reinforce as well, so any intentional changes require multiple sleep and wake cycles to become dominant. You probably already know this, though.
Physical trauma can scramble and 'restart' the folder organization and reinforcements. This is why post trauma care is so critical. Far too many people don’t know they’ve been scrambled (football, auto crashes, etc).
