This is where we get back to the Original Bargain of evolution. As Life learned to adapt, and environments changed underneath it, Life had to be able to adapt faster than the environment. Random mistakes didn't occur fast enough, so sex emerged to increase the number of mistakes and adapt quicker. This works best if the mundane don't hang around wasting space and resources, so the bargain was sealed: Nature grants lots of sex and offspring in exchange for early death and rapid adaptability.

Civilization does the opposite by building walls between humans and Nature and trying to avoid paying for the benefits. A typical example is that we talk about the carrying capacity of the environment but not the carrying capacity of humanity.

Debt is enslavement of our future selves. Advertising is theft of our living time and attention by immortal dead(unchanging) persons (corporations). They even get a tax deduction for it.

The simple point about the elites and swing states is that they are already doing similar practices, but the faceless corporations were doing the deeds in state legislatures because they had all the time in the world. America's 60 families don't care because they don't have to. The systems are built and operated only for their chosen piles of money. The rest simply vote billions of times daily to be able to die our way out. No sane person wants to live forever. The key point of religion is to make children believe in an insane process of Aristocracy and fantasy over reality and usefulness to pagan Nature and offspring. Selfish, fanatical competition over competing fanaticisms.
