This is why I advocate for UBI and healthcare based on sales tax/VAT. Everyone gets the same check, no income tax, and each layer of increased complexity adds another cost to wealthy/unnecessary consumption. The poor need to afford to be valuable to their own places. The rich need to pay and be prevented from creating havens and buying representation through the income tax "progressivism". All votes are made at the purchase point. A sales tax is less regressive than a dead planet. Carbon is only a symptom. Anthropocentric consumptionism is the problem.
