Today's contemplation for myself is this:

A $4 gallon of gasoline is equivalent to 100 manhours of physical work (physics: look it up ;). Let's put the average or median (I don't want to look up which) at 40 bucks an hour. That gives people in a consumer society a ratio of 1000:1 advantage (1 hour of serfdom buys 1000 manhours of energy) to keep driving to a job to sit on their ass and earn money vs staying home and doing work that is useful to a place (giving more than they extract).

You aren't going to reverse that kind of ratio without putting a gun to their head.

When the higher paid members of society have the biggest guns and are making all of the decisions (based on our disinformed choices at the checkouts), the ratio gets exponentially worse.

Is it any wonder then, that we don't want to actually think about the System of systems that only benefits the mean Mean?

We might vote once every 4 years for someone we hope won't kill us in our beds, but we vote billions of times every day for the corporations that do.
