As with anything, the separation from reality eventually disassembles the system. Civilizations fall because of various reasons, but mostly, it's the extractive philosophy that ignores the needs of places.
People don't need insurance or hospitals per se: they need good health.

We can never actually escape our liability to the environment that spawned us. This fantasy of civilization itself is a trap that keeps its cycles going until it can no longer eat.
